It's a double blessing.
A group of seniors displaced by Hurricane Sandy celebrated Mass on Wednesday with the city’s top Catholic in their new permanent digs in the Bronx.
Timothy Cardinal Dolan toured the San Vicente de Paul Nursing Home, where nearly 60 elderly residents were placed after the 2012 storm destroyed their nursing facility in Queens.
The Longwood facility run by Archcare, the Archdiocese of New York’s healthcare network, had been housing the seniors under a temporary license but got word from the state last month that the residents could stay.
“We thought it was just going to be an emergency, that they might just be here for a month or so,” Dolan said. “They’re here with us, and now this is their home.”
