Brazilian-born tenor Luiz Meneghin, a former contestant on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” wowed hundreds of elderly nursing home residents with his operatic vocals during a pop-up performance in East Harlem on Friday.
“It’s something I do from my heart,” said Meneghin, 57, a registered nurse who traveled from his home in Utah to perform at ArchCare at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center.
“Music is a healing power,” he said. “It can touch your soul and give you strength.”
The veteran nurse started singing in 2000 — mostly for his patients and their families during dinner time.
