In late February ArchCare implemented its disaster plan following the emergence of a new coronavirus, which had spread around the world.

The plan had three tiers, with the first focused on planning and the second activated once a person was diagnosed in the New York area. ArchCare, the long-term-care system of the Archdiocese of New York, operates five nursing homes, an assisted-living facility, home care programs, a specialty hospital for people with disabilities and a palliative care hospital.
