STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- We know Catholics pray the rosary as a means of asking God for a special favor, such as helping a loved one recover from an illness -- or perhaps as a way to thank God for special blessings such as the birth of a baby, a new job, or a even a new business.

But right here on Staten Island there's a group of patriotic seniors and people with special needs at ArchCare -- at St. Mark's Center, located at 330 St. Mark's Place right up the hill from the Staten Island Ferry and right past the St. George Theatre -- who are going above and beyond the call of duty in the "big heart department" by handcrafting special rosaries for troops in combat zones overseas.
