An innovative plan in New York State could expand the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to more people.

The New York State PACE Alliance is meeting with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) in a couple of weeks to pitch a pilot program that would expand PACE to Medicare-only beneficiaries in the Empire State for a fee. PACE is now offered only to those 55 and older who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.

There are plenty of Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) operators that embody the model’s success and recent momentum, but perhaps none greater than the New York-based ArchCare.

With just under $1 billion in annual revenues, ArchCare is ​​part of the Archdiocese of New York’s large health care system. Its PACE operations began as a single site in Harlem in 2009, but have since expanded to multiple centers and seven overall locations in four counties.

ArchCare Senior Life Harlem PACE Center in Manhattan celebrated the first World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly July 26 with a special day of activities to recognize grandparents and seniors.

ArchCare, the health care system of the archdiocese, cares for more than 9,000 seniors, including the poor and persons with special needs, in their homes, in the community and in the archdiocese’s nursing homes.
