FAQ

Q. Who is eligible to participate?

A. Any long-term care worker currently employed in New York City, Long Island or the Hudson Valley.

Q. How do I apply to participate in the training program?

A. If you are interested in any of our training offerings, please work with your WIO Liaison at your place of employment.  If you need further assistance or have any other questions, email wio@archcare.org

Q. Is there a cost associated with the training courses?

A. No, there is no cost associated any WIO training courses; all courses are FREE of charge. Funding for WIO training has been made available through a New York State Department of Health initiative referred to as the Managed Long-Term Care Workforce Investment Program. This initiative is a result of the State’s MRT Waiver Amendment, approved by CMS in 2014, to amend the State’s 1115 waiver. ArchCare was awarded funds for the purpose of retraining, redeploying, and enhancing the skillsets of MLTC direct care workers. For additional details on this initiative, please visit the New York State Department of Health website.

Q. Where are trainings offered?

A. Trainings are offered online via our e-Learning system and in-person. Please note ALL trainings are subject to availability.

Q. Is there a limit on the number of trainings one person can attend?

A. No, there is no limit. Individuals are encouraged to fully take advantage of the courses available.

Q. What types of courses are available?

A. Courses are available on a range of topics, including, but not limited to: Health Literacy, CNA Training, HHA Training, Caring for Patients with Alzheimer’s and related awareness and more.

Q. Can I receive credit for taking a course?

A. After completing a course, you will receive a course completion certificate. Some courses offered may count toward training hours for professional certification; however, ArchCare does not provide examination for, or granting of professional certificates. For specific training and certification inquiries, please contact wio@archcare.org.

Q: Will backfill pay be available for participating employees?

A: Yes, backfill reimbursement will be provided to organizations for eligible trainees. Eligible trainees include employees paid an hourly rate whose shifts require replacement in order to attend training. Employees must complete the full training to qualify for backfill reimbursement. Following completion of courses, organizations will receive a summary of the employees who completed training(s) and the total number of hours in attendance. The organization will then be responsible for entering in the hourly rate for these employees and submitting a claim to the WIO for payment. e-Learning courses will require a minimum hourly threshold to qualify for reimbursement, which may be earned by completing several courses over a span of time. For additional details about the backfill policy, please contact our Customer Service Support line: 800-378-7845 or email wio@archcare.org.
